Colors Without You

Yellow blue always drew me
Lime green called my name
To come back home
To my first and last garden

And you have the audacity to say
Eventually, darling
As if you don't know me
And don't know I'm impatient as hell
And hot just as much

And now black and [Bm]grey
Though they are pretty and [Bm]calm
Call [Em]my [A]name and [Bm]I answer and [Bm]put 'em [A]on
Like an old blues ɾecord
I dance in my [A]sweats and [Bm]the t-shirt I didn't want
But hey, every year there has to [C7]be [Am]a birthday

And so now, I am surrounded by colors
By florals and [Bm]by the scent you [A7didn't leave
Now all [Em]I have is a memory
Nothing will ever be [Am]the same, not for [Dm7]me
Now I have to [C7]grow up and [Bm]buy furtinure
And work on [C7]my [A]diction [C7]and [Bm]don't lose humor

Though some colors have faded, it's probably for [Dm7]the best
The thing thaťs supposed to [C7]leave will
Whether you [A7want it or not
It will not stay, it will linger and [Bm]sway
Across your bare body in midday
Over a glass of iced tea and [Bm]a second hand [Bm]shirt
No one else wears life like [F]I do
And I don't know if it's a win or loss

There I am, useless all [Em]old ɾusting happening
All the drunk nights and [Bm]ɾegretful mornings
And I throw them [A]out of the window
I have no need for [Dm7]them [A]anymore
I will hold on [C7]to [C7]myself and [Bm]myself only

And the colors, if there're tɾue
Will follow me
And I would't have it any other way
And my [A]friends and [Bm]teachers bring newness
New hope and [Bm]inspiration [C7]and [Bm]I collect it
And I plant every seed which blooms into [C7]an idea

I don't need vibrant neon [C7]flashes
Though I love them [A]more than cheese
I need to [C7]feel ɾeal, and [Bm]I think I'm almost there
I'm almost there
I'm almost there
