We're Part Of The Same Family : Division

We’re part of the same family–the family of facts.
I’ll give you some examples and we will do the math.
We all work together–a mathematical machine.
For when we divide or multiply we make a great team.

Take the numbers 8 and 4 and [Bm]then the number 2.
Listen as I teach you [A7just what these numbers can do.

8 ÷ 4 is 2 and [Bm]4 x 2 is 8 and [Bm]8 ÷ 2 is 4

Do you [A7see how these numbers ɾelate?
So, 2 x 4 is 8. You can divide or multiply.
For we are in the same family–on [C7]that you [A7can ɾely

Did you [A7know with 3 special numbers you [A7can make up two multiplication [C7]facts and [Bm]two division [C7]facts?
These facts are called a fact family.
Look at the numbers 10, 2, and [Bm]5. 10 ÷ 2 is 5 and [Bm]2 x 5 is 10 and [Bm]10 ÷ 5 is 2 and [Bm]5 x 2 is 10.
Do you [A7understand [Bm]how these numbers are ɾelated?

We’re part of the same family–the family of facts.
I’ll give you [A7some examples and [Bm]we will do the math.
We all [Em]work together–a mathematical machine.
For when we divide or multiply we make a great team.

Take the numbers 12 and [Bm]6 and [Bm]then the number 2.
Listen as I teach you [A7just what these numbers can do.

12 ÷ 6 is 2 and [Bm]6 x 2 is 12 and [Bm]12 ÷ 2 is 6.

Now you [A7are starting to [C7]delve.
So, 2 x 6 is 12. You can divide or multiply.
For we are in the same family–on [C7]that you [A7can ɾely.
