The Story Of Ravi From Brooklyn

Ravi comes from downtown Brooklyn
He's lived there all of his life
Now he's moving in on Clover Street
He's judged because he's not white
Ravi and his family are victims
Of racism in the U.S.A.
And although they've grown very tired
It's their home and [Bm]they're going to [C7]stay
Why has Ravi grown so accustomed
To the prejudice here in the states
Don't you [A7think it's time we snapped out of it
Love each other and [Bm]stomp out the hate
Ravi wants to [C7]move back to [C7]Brooklyn
But they're unhappy he wanted a mosque
Looks like [F]he's stuck in Poughkeepsie
Even though he misses home a lot
Ravi prays for [Dm7]his whole family
And for [Dm7]his neighbors to [C7]see someday
That all [Em]discrimination [C7]is pointless
And we're an melting pot U.S.A.
Why has Ravi grown so accustomed
To the prejudice here in the states
Don't you [A7think it's time we snapped out of it
Love each other and [Bm]stomp out the hate
Ravi's just another American
Living in the land [Bm]of the free
Now he's moving to [C7]another city
Maybe [Am]this time they'll just let him be
