Somebody's Man

I can't stand this place
Got off the bus with a second-hand suitcase
I had it made, now strangers just whisper and stare
As your letter crumbles in my hand
I wish I was somebody's man

It's all a hoax
You ran away when I needed you the most
I blinked my [A]eyes for [Dm7]a second, and [Bm]let go of the plan
But a second´s too long [Am]for [Dm7]you
To believe I forgot [Fm7]I was [Am7]somebody's man

Things look ok from time to [C7]time
Then walking in like [F]it owns the place
Comes despair, slapping home in the face
If the sky would just shut off its lights
I could sleep, I could sleep
All day and [Bm]night

I can't stand [Bm]this place
Got off the bus with a second-hand [Bm]suitcase
I had it made, now stɾangers just whisper and [Bm]stare
As you [A7wait for [Dm7]the narrow door with the damned
For the chance to [C7]be [Am]somebody´s man
