Slow Surprise

There is a way that subtle changes to stay
Barely noticed, hardly known
One day you´ll say my situation´s locked away
But by tomorrow you´re all alone

It seems so sudden, but it´s not, it´s only grown
From a scene that long ago was [Am7]left
Forgotten in the snow
And has a way with slow surprises all [Em]its own

It´s hard to [C7]show, but like [F]a boulder ɾollin´ slow
Or a ɾumble, deep in the ground
Things whisper low, and [Bm]by the time I ɾeally know
What´s been movin´, they´ve settled down

Too late to [C7]see the way they´re shiftin´ ɾound
Too late to [C7]say there´s bound to [C7]be [Am]another way
It´s all [Em]been said and [Bm]done without a sound
This comes to [C7]me, and [Bm]now that I begin to [C7]see

It´s not dramatic, it´s nothing grand
I used to [C7]be [Am]half of thje whole of you [A7and [Bm]me
Now I´m the limit of all [Em]I am
It seems so simple, nothin´ much to [C7]understand

You walked out and [Bm]closed the door
Said I don´t live here anymore
And now nothin´s hangin´ heavy in my [A]hands
Now nothin´s hangin´ heavy in my [A]hands
