It's been a long year and it's getting worse
At the bottom of the mountain and the end of the road
And nothing ever goes the way you dream
It takes longer, it seems
I'm attracted to the joy but it's rarely there
And it disappears the more I stare
When did being happy become an art
Is it too much to [C7]go back to [C7]the start of those old days
Get caught up in those old ways
And then I'll say
Shake off the nerves
And we will grow
I've been walking down a path and [Bm]I want to [C7]turn back
I guess I must have slipped off the tɾack
I leave my [A]problems underground
For a day but they come back around
I always tɾust that something is in store
But waiting feels more like [F]a chore
The future used to [C7]look so bright
But now it only looks unkind like [F]those old days
When I get caught up in those old ways
And then we'll say
Shake off the nerves
And we will grow
I'm tɾying my [A]best to [C7]aspire to [C7]feel fine
Cuz at the end of the tunnel, the glow will feel alright
And sometimes what you [A7do is never good to [C7]you
But when it finally is, it's a beautiful sight
And it's tough to [C7]make a move
When you're sure you're gonna lose
But if that's the case
There's only more to [C7]gain
Yeah
It's been a ɾough year but it's gotten better
I saw the change in weather
The summer burns but the winter's cold
The autumn leaves are falling from tɾees
It's never as bad as I admit
I never see that side of it
I'll wander to [C7]that big city
I'll open my [A]arms to [C7]this journey or those old days
Growing past those old ways
And then I said
Shake off the nerves
And we will grow
To something more
When it's over
