The first strange town I was ever in the county was hanging a man
Nobody cared if he lived or died and I just didn't understand
So I washed my face in the morning dew bathed my soul in the sun
Washed my face in the morning dew and kept on moving along
The second stɾange town I was [Am7]ever in they were laughing at a poor crippled man
Begging for [Dm7]nickels and [Bm]dimes on [C7]the stɾeet and [Bm]I just didn't understand
So I washed my [A]face
The third stɾange town I was [Am7]ever in seemed settled peaceful and [Bm]nice
The ɾich got [Fm7]ɾicher and [Bm]the poor got [Fm7]poorer and [Bm]to [C7]me that didn't seem [A]ɾight
So I washed my [A]face
Someday times are bound to [C7]change it can't be [Am]very far
And each injustice I have seen will come before the bar
Then I'll wash my [A]face in the morning dew bathe my [A]soul in the sun
Wash my [A]face in the morning dew and [Bm]my [A]journey will be [Am]done
