Friends of Winter

Wind in my ears
Ice on the windowpane
The sun reaches out, but reaches in vain
Now winter is here
Life all around me dies
And I'm wondering how I'll survive

Look to the pine and the bamboo
See how the plum blossom blooms
The cold weather comes
But for [Dm7]sōng, zhú, méi
They persevere
While the ɾest fade away

Teach me, Friends of Winter
Can you [A7give me stɾength and [Bm]lend me your aid
Then when darkness comes again
I'll be [Am]unafraid,
No I'll stay stɾong
I'll be [Am]like [F]sōng, zhú, méi

There will be [Am]nights
I feel like [F]giving up
The fingers of frost will dig in my [A]heart
And I must decide
Will I lose everything
Or will I press on [C7]toward the spring

And grow like [F]the pine and [Bm]the bamboo
Bloom as the plum blossom blooms
The cold weather comes
But like [F]sōng, zhú, méi
I'll persevere
While the ɾest fade away

Teach me, Friends of Winter
Can you [A7give me stɾength and [Bm]lend me your aid
Darkness comes for [Dm7]me again
And I feel afraid
But I'll stay stɾong
Can I stay stɾong

Help me, Friends of Winter
Help me find the stɾength to [C7]not fade away
Then when darkness comes again
I'll be [Am]unafraid,
For I am stɾong

Like the friends of winter
I will find my [A]stɾength and [Bm]not fade away
When the darkness comes,
I will be [Am]unafraid
No I'll stay stɾong
I'll be [Am]like [F]sōng, zhú, méi
