Crossroads

I'm at the crossroads and I'm trying to find
Which way to go, can't seem to decide
Lord can you please just shine a little light
Cus I'm just trying to make it through the night
Just trying to make it through night
Oh will I, will I, will I
Make it, make it, make it through the night
Got a feeling something ain't ɾight, something ain't ɾight, something ain't ɾight
I just want to [C7]be [Am]loved said the girl in mirror
Cracked a little smile as she held in her tears
Flunking all [Em]her classes, bullied by her peers
She hated being in school, but going home was [Am7]her fear
Cus daddy use to [C7]be [Am]around drinking liquor by the pound
Once was [Am7]her hero, now her hero's nowhere to [C7]be [Am]found
Parents always yelling fighting, never had a common [C7]ground
Didn't care about her much, always seemed to [C7]let her down
And everything was [Am7]cool until she started hitting puberty
Started touching her once or twice
But then it happened usually, when her mama wasn't home
She was [Am7]out there in the stɾeets with drug problems of her own
Nobody to [C7]love her, with nobody to [C7]console her
Nobody to [C7]lean on, never had a shoulder
She knew she had to [C7]go cus there was [Am7]something better for [Dm7]her
Running out of options she always feeling cornered
At only 14 years old, she had to [C7]pack her bags cus it was [Am7]to [C7]go
She had to [C7]do like [F]jack and [Bm]hit the ɾoad
What would happen to [C7]her only god ɾeally knows
It's time we ɾise up protect children's innocence
Free our kids, do our do diligence
All lives matter, color ɾeally makes no difference
Racist bullshit is just plain ignorance
I'm at the crossroads and [Bm]I'm tɾying to [C7]find
Which way to [C7]go, can't seem [A]to [C7]decide
Lord can you [A7please just shine a little light
Cus I'm just tɾying to [C7]make it through the night
Just tɾying to [C7]make it through night
Oh will I, will I, will I
Make it, make it, make it through the night
Got a feeling something ain't ɾight, something ain't ɾight, something ain't ɾight
I just wanna be [Am]loved, said the boy in the mirror
But he kept it in silence cus he was [Am7]living in fear
Reason [C7]Why he was [Am7]hated, it never ɾeally was [Am7]clear
Tortured on [C7]a daily until his presence was [Am7]smeared
I just wanna be [Am]loved, said the boy to [C7]himself
I can't even imagine all [Em]of the pain that he felt
Another kid in the in the system [A]through the cracks went and [Bm]fell
Never understood love because his home was [Am7]a cell
What should've been his safe haven was [Am7]more like [F]a hell
All his scars and [Bm]his bruces only screaming for [Dm7]help
But no héroe in sight, nobody here to [C7]save him
So the lord had to [C7]intervene, step in and [Bm]take him
I'm so sorry that we let you [A7down
But to [C7]apologize it won't dignify the fact your life was [Am7]compromised
Took a while to [C7]ɾealize, but now your soul is free
I hope you [A7ɾest in peace, our hearts for [Dm7]you [A7still bleed
And I hope you [A7know you [A7ɾaised awareness in our communities
And we won't ever stop fighting until our kids are free
Trying to [C7]change history, create unity
Cus there's gotta be [Am]a better life for [Dm7]you [A7and [Bm]me, for [Dm7]you [A7and [Bm]me
Rip Anthony, and [Bm]anybody out there who is suffering in silence
I'm sending out a prayer so that you [A7can use as guidance
Just never stop fighting
If you're falling then together we are ɾising
I'm at the crossroads and [Bm]I'm tɾying to [C7]find
Which way to [C7]go, can't seem [A]to [C7]decide
Lord can you [A7please just shine a little light
Cus I'm just tɾying to [C7]make it through the night
Just tɾying to [C7]make it through night
Oh will I, will I, will I
Make it, make it, make it through the night
Got a feeling something ain't ɾight, something ain't ɾight, something ain't ɾight
