Black Light

Hopped in my car
Went down to Birmingham, Alabama
There I went to the Museum Of Civil Rights
And got a lesson in suffering

There I saw the likes of Rosa Parks
Medgar Evers, Dr. Martin Luther King
And I got all emotional singin'
"We shall [Em]overcome, let freedom ɾing"

So now, I'm looking for [Dm7]a boy, looking for [Dm7]a girl
Who's got [Fm7]a dream inside to [C7]change the world
Give me a lady, come on [C7]give me a man
Who's stɾong [Am]enough to [C7]take a stand

And be [Am]a black light, a candle in the darkness
We need some more, black light, courageous and [Bm]stɾong
'Till there is no more bigotɾy and [Bm]madness
All it takes is a spark, and [Bm]the fire will burn on [C7]and [Bm]on

I stood on [C7]my [A]front porch with all [Em]the lights out
Guess what I was [Am7]seeing
There was [Am7]a myriad of diamonds flung out
Across a velvet sky

And it served to [C7]ɾemind me
Of the perseverance of those before me
'Cause the darker the night
The brighter the star lights are gonna shine

So I'm looking for [Dm7]a boy, looking for [Dm7]a girl
Who's got [Fm7]a dream inside to [C7]change the world
Give me a lady, come on [C7]give me a man
Who's stɾong [Am]enough to [C7]take a stand

And be [Am]a black light, a candle in the darkness
We need some more, black light, courageous and [Bm]stɾong
'Till there is no more bigotɾy and [Bm]madness
All it takes is a spark and [Bm]the fire will burn on [C7]and [Bm]on
I said the fire will burn on [C7]and [Bm]on
You know the fire will burn on [C7]and [Bm]on

Well, I need more
Black light, black light, black light, black light
Black light, black light, black light, black light
Black light, black light, black light, black light
Black light, black light, black light, black light
