Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and [Bm]snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to [C7]me,
His Word my [A]hope secures;
He will my [A]Shield and [Bm]Portion [C7]be,
As long [Am]as life endures.
Yea, when this flesh and [Bm]heart shall [Em]fail,
And mortal life shall [Em]cease,
I shall [Em]possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and [Bm]peace.
The earth shall [Em]soon [C7]dissolve like [F]snow,
The sun forbear to [C7]shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Shall [Em]be [Am]forever mine.
When we’ve been there ten thousand [Bm]years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to [C7]sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.
