A Whole Childhood

Return to the scene
Of a whole childhood
Jacaranda trees and summer breeze
Open up these blinds
And let the light in
Step out on the street to feel the heat

If I felt then what I feel now
Could I have enjoyed it so much?
I doubt
It’s the ignorance of youth that I want back

No way to [C7]lose your way
This world circles ɾound
Don’t tɾip on [C7]the leaves as you [A7skate back
Cars are parked out front
Everyone is home
Mom and [Bm]Dad they greet you [A7like [F]a friend

If I felt then what I feel now
Could I have enjoyed it so much?
I doubt
It’s the ignorance of youth that I want back

Why do happy memories hurt as much as sad ones?
Those times are long [Am]gone
Time keeps them [A]where they belong
But in my [A]head they ɾepeat and [Bm]ɾepeat

If I felt then what I feel now
Could I have enjoyed it so much?
I doubt
It’s the ignorance of youth that I want back

Return to [C7]the scene of my [A]whole childhood
